...in the words of our customers....

Dear Willa Rose,

Thank you for your confirmation note and the telephone call of this morning. William Greenberg must employ the nicest and most caring people in the Country. I only order twice or three times a year, but you make me feel very important to you and plus the fact you have the most delicious bake goods in the World. You beat our France and Germany for sure. Thank you and someday before I leave this earth I am going to order one of those pies. Maybe next time.

Thanks again...

Willa-

Your shipping manager called and she has a game plan that should work fine for us. I appreciate the quick response to my concern and her (and your) willingness to make things right. As expected, still a premier operation. The real measure of a business is how it deals with unexpected curves. You have excelled -- and I appreciate it greatly. I look forward next to the taste!

Warmest regards,
Michael Richards

Dear Ms. Willa Rose,

Thank you. It is always a pleasure doing business with your store. I am already looking into what I would like to ship to San Diego for Christmas. Some of my NY family were sent to San Diego due to military service. Now they have settled there. The only thing they ever request from NY (which has a lot to offer) are Black & Whites from your store ! Have a wonderful day.

Kind regards,
Kathleen

Ms. Judy Adler:

I would like to call your attention to the quality of service we received from one of your staff, Ms. Angie Burns. I greatly appreciate the professionalism, the timeliness and the personalized handling of my first on-line order with William Greenberg.

We have been among your many long-time customers since at least the early 1990's. I am usually in the city on business at least twice a month. At this particular instance, it was very critical that the order reached my wife before Thursday. Considering the possibility that the mail traffic during the Mother's day weekend may be heavier than usual, Ms. Burns proactively contacted us that the order may be delayed through no fault of your organization.

In my line of work , I appreciate hearing about the downside first (much as I do not look forward to it). I do not like negative surprises, as I am sure you can appreciate. We are thankful for Ms. Burns' professionalism and initiative in personally keeping us posted on the status and whereabouts of our order.

I was extremely pleased, as my wife was, to even realize that the order reached us yesterday. To the extent that Ms. Burns is the kind of employee that reflects on the quality of service one can expect of your organization, aside from the top notch reputation your chocolate brownies have always had---- we can see why your business model has managed to last through all these decades.

You can certainly expect to continue having us , and eventually our own children and grandchildren as William Greenberg customers.

With best personal regards,
Jaime G. Palanca

p.s.: For the holidays, I am seriously considering gifting my staff with William Greenberg brownies. Perhaps they will understand why I enjoy traveling to New York at least twice a month. I will likely order from Angie on line again. Many thanks.

Before I moved out to Vancouver in March of this year, I traveled to NY 3 times a month. There was not a visit where I did not come in on a Saturday for a Black and White cookie. I truly miss New York and William Greenberg.

"Willa Rose Abramson,
Thank you for adding me to mailing list. While surfing the web, I read that William Greenberg Desserts had the best Black and White Cookies in New York City. Being a dessert lover, I made a special trip to the store on Madison Avenue to taste for myself. My description of it is that it is a “mini-cake”. The cake part was moist and the black and white icing on the cookie had the perfect sweetness. It was fresh and had the most delicious fragrance as it traveled with me on the subway home. I agree, the William Greenberg Desserts Black and White Cookie is the best! It is awesome! Thank you for a great product!!"
Sincerely,

"Thank you for my overnight order received today. The hamentashen were superb and trying cherry was an incredible experience. My wife said the black and white cookies were the best she ever tasted. The boxes were packed and decorated with extraordinary care. Ordering your goodies to arrive at our vacation location was a great idea. Thanks again for your quality baked goods and excellent service."

"I'm a native NYer. I've loved Wm Greenberg Jr. since I first lived in the city on 9th St. At that time, you had a shop on 8th Street between Fifth Ave. and University Place. I could smell the wonderful aromas from my laundry room and ALWAYS got myself treats when I was a little "flush." These days I bake as well, but in my opinion, you are STILL one of the BEST !!! "

"Thank you for your note. We have only just found out that someone who always sent us your schneckens for Christmas breakfast can no longer do so, and unhappily the family has become addicted. If we must have schneckens for New Year’s breakfast, we’ll try to be brave, but if you can possibly send them out before Christmas, we would all be most grateful, and if a small extra charge were necessary, I’d certainly understand. In any case, yes, do please send them, even if not until the 26.
Thank you for your attention, also for your good food which is always a joy. I wish you every blessing in this season and in the year to come."

"Ms. Abramson:
Thank you so much for your note. In today's non-personal way of doing things, your note is greatly appreciated. I must also tell you that although I didn't order them this time, (but I will in the future) your Hamantaschen are just like I remember from when I was little and we had them at Purim.
Again thank you,"

"I can't believe I found you! I had no idea you were still in business. My mother, Mrs. Albert Greenspan (Libbie) was a most faithful customer for at least 30 years. We ate schnecken our entire childhood and into adulthood while my parents were still alive (think that my father's housekeeper Bridie continued to order after my mother's death because we had Schnecken at my home in Scarsdale every time we visited). Nobody makes anything like schnecken. I sometimes dream about mini schnecken....I am an excellent cook (I served a Pub Lunch for 90 people yesterday to honor an Orthodox Rabbi who was a Guest Preacher for Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill - made and served mazoh ball soup, borsht, potato pancakes, sweet potato pancakes, brisket, homemade apple sauce, and honey sponge cake garnished with fresh berries) but I wouldn't have attempted schnecken. I even make my own challah which we serve occasionally as communion bread....but Schnecken?....from Greenbergs? Well, you have made my day. I will get my list together and order for the holidays."

"Dear Ms Abramson,

Thank you very much for your kind and helpful reply. Today (24Nov) I placed the order for two dozen large Black and Whites and hope to receive them on Thursday Nov 30th. My guests will be surprised! I was in town two weeks ago and stopped in at your Madison Avenue store for one of these cookies. The lady I was with convinced me to also drop by 'Lady M' cake boutique (quite near your store). We both agreed that the Black and Whites - and the visit to your store (a "real" bakery) - was much more enjoyable."

"We were so pleased with our first order, that I couldn't wait to sample more. Only wish that your famous cakes would be available to order on-line (like the walnut torte, your cheesecakes, carrot cake, etc.). Thanks again for bringing back fond memories of my mother's baking."

Willa, here's the quote from my cousin in Florida:
"IN MY LIFE, I never tasted a challah like the one you sent. Abe and I eat some every morning and all we do is wonder how they make something as good as this bread. It's like no other."

"Your cookies have been a household favorite ever since Tom Watson gave my Dad a box when when he was in the hospital thirty years ago. Funny thing, when Dad opened the box, 1/4 of the cookies were gone. Tom told him the cookies were so good, he just couldn't resist!"
